THE COTTAGE

The adjacent cottage offers a cosy, beautifully decorated retreat sleeping four across two charming superking en‑suite bedrooms. Styled in soft pastels and traditional cottage fabrics, it features a comfortable open‑plan living and dining space with an open fire and French doors leading to the garden.

A well‑equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, oven, induction hob, dishwasher and washer‑dryer provides everything needed for a relaxed self‑catered stay. The Cottage can be booked separately or with the Main Hall for larger groups wanting exclusive use of the grounds and properties.

The bedrooms are luxurious with soft furnishings and curated artwork that enhance the cottage’s elegant feel. Modern convenience is built right in, as both rooms feature dedicated charging stations for your devices. The huge ensuite bathrooms offer a high-end spa experience with baths and large showers.

Bedroom one features a charming window seat, perfect for a quiet moment with a book, while bedroom two includes a TV for relaxed movie nights in bed. Whether you’re soaking in the tub or lounging among the plush fabrics, these rooms provide the ultimate space to unwind.

This country cottage kitchen beautifully blends rustic charm with modern convenience. Flooded with light and accented by pastel handmade Roman blinds, the space features a marble-top breakfast bar that serves as a social centerpiece. It is fully equipped for any stay, boasting a bean-to-cup coffee machine, induction hob, and integrated appliances, including a dishwasher and washer-dryer.

The lounge is designed for relaxation, featuring elegant parquet flooring and a window seat with stunning fabric. A large open fire anchors the room for cosy evenings, complemented by a wall-mounted TV and soundbar. With dining for four and patio doors opening directly onto the rose garden, it’s a perfect space for both entertaining and unwinding.

Gardens

Our expansive grounds are a true paradise for both guests and their four-legged friends, who are not just welcome but adored here. The estate features large gardens, a charming walled garden and orchard, walks in your own woodland and plenty more nearby, including easy access to the Durham Dales.

The gardens and woodland extend to 15 acres. Cottage guests have exclusive use of the "Rose Garden", set aside from the main garden, with its own outside seating area. Guests also have shared access to extensive surrounding woodland and Walled Garden. The Main Lawn, House of Wendy (Pavilion) and "Bowling Green" Lawn are allocated for guests staying in The Hall. When the Hall and Cottage are booked together, all grounds are entirely private.

Guests staying with dogs can make use of the outdoor washing area, ideal for rinsing off muddy paws after woodland and estate walks. The space features an cast-iron freestanding bath with a hand‑held shower, making it easy to clean dogs and muddy boots before returning to the main living quarters.
